Gym Class Hero teaches good lessons

Here’s a look at Gym Class Heroes lead singer/songwriter Travis McCoy during his recent trip to the Philippines as MTV’s new Staying Alive Special Ambassador.

McCoy - on and off boyfriend to Katy Perry - also hit South Africa and is, it seems, currently in India during a 10 day trip to visit grassroots HIV prevention projects in those countries, trying to raise awareness about youth driven HIV and AIDS prevention initiatives.

During the trip, McCoy is working on a new single inspired by his travels and the folks he meets along the way. The song will be released on December 1st - World AIDS Day.

“It’s an honor for me to be the Ambassador for the Staying Alive Foundation - it’s a cause that’s very close to me,” McCoy said. “Having lost loved ones and seeing the toll it takes on people affected including the people that love and care for them, it’s important we do whatever can within our power to fight this deadly and rapidly spreading epidemic. I strongly feel the best cure we have at this point is increasing education and building awareness. It’s how we use this information in the choices we make that will determine whether or not our generation will help make a change or ultimately make things worse. I believe that “each one should teach one”, and if my influence on my peers and young ones that look up to me can help decide what music to listen to or what clothes to wear, I hope and pray it will help them to decide to be safe and take their life seriously.”

I love discovering new artist. Although I would love to keep this guy all to myself. I must inform you guys of a diamond in the rough. Shawn Chrystopher is a rapper that hails from Inglewood California. But you would never guess it , he doesn’t have the stereotypical Cali sound. I think he’ll be the new face of Cali by the end of this year and he should make XXL’s 2010 freshman class.  My first inroduction to Shawn Chrystopher was thru his current mixtape : IWG2: I Told You So. He earned a grade of A on my montly mixtape show.  I loved the mixtape so much that I even downloaded the First Tape : IWG: I Wear Glasses. We received a superb Christmas present from Jordan Brand last year in the form of the Jordan Spizike “Cool Grey” & “Citron”. However, we have now spotted an upcoming Jordan Spizike colorway that may erase the aforementioned Christmas present from you memory totally. A photo of this Jordan Spizike Black/Red-Cement Grey surfaced recently on Eddie Cruz’s twitter.

Heavily inspired by the Air Jordan IV Black/Cement Grey, this sneaker features a predominately black upper with minimal red accents on the laceholders and sections on the outsole. The cement grey details appear on the straps and side wall. Could this be the best colorway seen on the Jordan Spizike yet? No word yet on when and if this sneaker will release, however, stay tuned for further information.
